Yes, it clearly sounds that way doesn't it? It hurts when he gets an erection, it's not comfortable at all, but he already "feels like a new person" and is looking forward to not being "embarresed with sexual partners" because he'll now be "able to function". Despite having no experience, he really does "feel like a new person right now".

Hypnosis would have done all these things just as well! Whether cheaper or not - well, that's arguable.

Nevertheless, he really will be a terrific mate for "AJ", because it's a perfect match, detail for detail.
