Given that if your "haemorrhoid" problem remains and to the extent that it does represent Candida infection, cream is difficult to apply as often and as accurately as might be desirable, and the bowel represents a generous reservoir for the yeast to come from (I really am expecting Jim to kick in here with suggestions!), then tablets such as Ketoconazole (Nizoral) or - expensive but I understand very effective, Fluconazole (Diflucan), have the advantage of attacking all the yeast at once, inside and out.

You would want treatment for a few weeks in order to ensure all residual "pockets" are cleared, as well as to reduce the amount you shed onto other things (clothing, bedding and such), so that they are less likely to give it back to you (but it is so ubiquitous that this is never completely effective). It is probably also beneficial to give your body a "holiday" from the yeast so that it can build up its natural immunity and hopefully keep the stuff away in future.

However, since these oral drugs can potentially affect the body adversely (notably, the liver), then they are regulated as prescription-only so that the doctor knows to look out, or warn you to look out for said adverse effects.

Over-the counter, cash is always preferred! There is a "merchant service fee" of about 3% for MasterCard and Visa transactions you see! And incidentally, my fees just went up last Friday!
