As an answer to: Tell us about yourself, Jim... written by AJ at 06 Nov 2002 18:09:13:
I’m puzzled. Your own experience with at least one doctor hardly gave much ground for confidence. “After a brief examination which involved pulling the foreskin over the head of my flaccid penis once (and that was it), he [the Doctor, a local GP] didn't ask any questions and laughed when I asked how I was supposed to have sex with it being so painful when I attempted to pull the foreskin back when I had a hard on.” [From AJ’s Circumcision FAQ at http://www.geocities.com/circfaq/]
You’d pretty much diagnosed your own problem at the age of fifteen or so, and that’s impressive. OK, so maybe you didn’t know what to do to resolve it, nor perhaps what exactly you wanted to fix. The GP, of course, should have said that it might be a good idea to try stretching it regularly, and that after a year or perhaps two it would probably be OK. Unfortunately, he didn’t.
At twenty-five, you seem to have decided pretty much exactly what solution you wanted, chose a specialist on the basis of this decision, and discussed what you wanted with the surgeon before your examination.
Despite the fact that you conducted your own research, however, and had worked out pretty much on your own how you wanted this problem sloved, you nevertheless keep advising guys - correct me if I’m wrong here - not to try working this thing out in their own way as you did, sifting through whatever advice they happen on with the reasonable scepticism proper to anyone who actually has a problem to solve, but instead suggest they go and get qualified medical advice ASAP.
It doesn’t figure.
So can you fix this so of thing entirely on your own? Yes, some people can. If you have a short frenulum, it is possible to stretch it, though this can take a while. If you find that this doesn’t work, or if it looks to be taking too long, frenuloplasty is probably your next best option, though even if you used filed down bottle tops or whatever, you would be most unlikely to do yourself any damage that circumcision would be unable to repair.
