As an answer to: Masturbation scars? written by 16 year old hopefully on the road to recovery at 03 Dec 2002 20:19:29:

> I discovered I had this condition about 8 months ago, I always thought I had a normal penis.

Except that you imply your foreskin will not pull back (fully). That is however, readily fixable.

> I started masturbating when I was about 13/14 years old, but I was doing it differently to everyone else. I used my thumb and two fingers and moved the top of my foreskin up and down, without revealing any of the tip of the penis.

By no means - there are plenty of people that use that technique, some all the time, some just to be different. Have you worked your way through "Jackinworld.com" yet (I'll bet you have!)?

> After a while I started to get black marks on my foreskin and I didn't know why, I thought it was just caused by an allergy or it was just normal.

If you want further suggestions, you could perhaps clarify what sort of black marks these might be. Were they nearest to bruises, moles (sharp edges) or just everything is darker than the rest of you (like, but you perhaps don't know it, a woman's lower lips)?

I had an amusing discussion yesterday with a fellow and his partner as to why his foreskin is much darker than the rest of his skin. And his son is the same - which for people with dark skin, is very normal.

> But now I know they were caused by masturbating incorrectly,

No you don't, because you haven't suggested you were masturbating incorrectly at all. Unless you really hurt yourself, causing bruising or bleeding, or soreness that lasted beyond a few minutes, there is no suggestion you were doing damage at all. There is no "right" method of masturbation, though some suggest that there are various ways that are better to use as "training" for future intercourse with a young lady.

> have they became scars?

Not too likely. Scars do become black only in dark-skinned people, and it generally takes a while. But unless you (or anyone else) have injured - cut or crushed - parts of your foreskin, they will not be scars. However, dark-skinned people and to a lesser extent, light-skinned people, do tend to get skin pigment in response to persistent friction or irritation - that may have happened as a result of a lot of rough usage of your foreskin, but - let me be explicit - is not harmful and does not imply scarring.

> I am now starting the stretching techniques and not masturbating the way I used to.

It is undoubtedly good that you are making your foreskin mobile if it was not before, and a different way of masturbating will be fine - as well as the "old" way from time to time. Whatever is pleasant - that's all.

> Will these marks always be there and has anyone else got them?

If they are skin pigmentation, they will most likely fade with age (unfortunately - most such pigmentation is quite attractive) - unless you have really dark skin anyway. And whatever they are, there will be others with them, but without a better description, we can't say which.
