You English must certainly have a crappy medical system. A standard procedure in any responsible medical establishment in the USA would be to inform the patient of all followup care and to make that patient, or his agent, sign for a written instructional message, thus assuring that there was a meeting of the minds on the subject. A phone number is always included in the packet, and the patient is always instructed to call for any question, minor or major. Most reputable hospitals and physicians also followup with a personal phone call to the patient to check on progress.
You are joking about this, aren't you? If not, call your doctor and ask him for advice. He got paid to do that to you, so let him earn his money.
