As an answer to: Re: Cancer... written by Jake Booth at 24 Dec 2002 00:31:23:

Jake....Millions of baby boys are circumcised yearly because of the unfounded fear of penile cancer. These cancers do occur, but they are easily treatable if found early. The only real problems are caused by embarrassment...by men too ashamed to go to a doctor and have their penis examined. Deaths from penile cancer only occur when men allow decades to pass before seeking professional advice, when it's often too late.

Get over your sense of shame one way or another. Grit your teeth if you have to, but unzip, pull it out and show the doctor, as though you do it ten times or more a day. And if you should get an erection (improbable, but not impossible) stick it in his face and watch HIM squirm with embarrassment, while remaining sublimely impassive. Giggle, perhaps, or at least smile at the absurdity of the whole affair. It's his job to look, after all, not yours.

I know only too well how shame can paralyze a person and cause problems. I'd probably be intact now had I not then been too embarrassed to demand to know my options. Please don't make my mistake. It's not worth it.
