Seems to me that people have different needs and expectations.

For some, the simple statement of fact is enough - they not only can extrapolate the rest for themself, but prefer to do so, and can't stand reading the whole document.

For others, they need the build-up to justify the argument, explanation of the permutations, and perhaps the feeling that there are many others sympathetic with the concept, before they feel able to adopt it.

Another example - John Gray's books. I think he has a brilliant concept of things - but perhaps not entirely novel. I can take the occasional reading of his book(s) as thought-provoking, certainly the first time, but get frankly fatigued if I try to follow through a whole book, let alone go on to the next.

Unfortunately, in the paperback world, you sell quantity, not single brilliant ideas!
