He can do it in the tub or shower, he can take a squirt bottle and gently irrigate as he would for his ears. Healthcare is primarily a self-help program - the specialists should be called in to provide guidance where needed and to assist where the situation is beyond self-help. You wouldn't hire a lawyer to handle a traffic ticket (unless you really got P.O.'s over it), even though that is a situation involving legalities; likewise you don't call in a doctor to clean the body parts you can easily and safely reach.
