A young man who uses the same health club facility that I do shows a good example of the lasting effects of skin expansion. A few years ago, he was very obviously overweight, what would be referred to medically as morbidly obese. Three years ago, he had a gastric bypass procedure which caused him to lose what I would estimate to be around 150 pounds. Now, his skin hangs in ugly layers, no longer plumped up by all the fat that he lost.
