I am all the more interested in your inquiry now that you have given a little more explanation of the nature of it. I am afraid you have discovered one of the dangers of this particular site - that anyone can post with anyone else's name, and we have plenty of jokers who will do so. Fathermag prevents this by use of a moderator who only screens out the truly crude and completely outlandish. I had wondered about the nature of your interest, since your last name is of the traditional priestly tribe, but then there are now plenty of non-Jewish Levy's in the world too. There was a rather strongly worded response above this one signed "Rood" (I am not sure if that was the real Rood or not), but you will find that there is often quite a bit of strong feeling on the topic. I am afraid that many anti-circers lose sight of how people can accept a practice so easily and without question when they have been brought up with it. It was not so long ago when otherwise enlightened people accepted the notion of owning other people (the unique thing about JudeoChristian culture is not that slavery was accepted, but that it was cast off - I don't know of another culture which has done so on its own). One can go through history and find thousands of examples where people could not see the cruelty of things they were brought up with which we now consider unspeakably barbaric. For many who post here and on fathermag, the cruelty and senselessness of circumcision is as plain as you no doubt find the various forms of female genital mutilation (and most of us cannot see why the two practices are treated any differently). I believe we should be a little more gentle, though no less firm, with those just beginning to realize there is a question at all - consider the parable of the cave. Nonetheless, you're a big fella and I'm sure you can stand up to some heated words over the computer, Welcome to the discussion.
