As an answer to: Trouble With Retracting My Foreskin! written by Mark at 13 Jan 2003 19:21:43:
>Hello, I just turned 19 years old and I have trouble retracting my foreskin. I have had this problem for many years now and I finally want to do something about it.
Good for you, and about time too.
>My Problem:
>The problem is that my foreskin is too tight. When erect I can only reveal the very tip of my glans therefore the hole is just about big enough to pee through. After doing some research I found out that people with this problem could get infections as the foreskin swells when passing urine. This can cause some urine to stay behind the foreskin, which causes the infection. Lucky for me I have not had any infections or felt any discomfort in any way. That is a possibility, yes.
>The only time I feel any pain is when I pee. The foreskin swells up and my glans burn slightly. This pain gets worse especially when I am desperate to go to the toilet.
That's bad. Have you spoken to your doctor about this?
>I also get pain during sexual intercourse with my girlfriend especially when my penis is not properly lubricated. After sex, my penis feels a little sore but after an hour or so after sex, it feels perfectly fine.
Soreness is bad.
>Before telling my mother about my problem, I found out some methods of stretching on the internet. I tried these methods for about three months and I saw very little success.
The propoganda from the anti-circ community and their websites is very misleading on this subject. They tell you that it works all the time, but the truth is - it doesn't. It works for some and not for others.
>I tried using smooth objects to help stretch my foreskin such as a pen but all I got was a little discomfort and no success. After the three months I saw very little improvement and decided to consult a doctor.
That's dangerous. Jim (an anti-circ kook here) is always suggesting that. I'm sure if you were to ask your doctor about this he'd have a fit.
>I found this very tough as I felt very embarrassed and I also felt embarrassed when telling my girlfriend about my problem, but she was very understanding.
I know what you mean. It's an embarrassing problem.
>The doctor said that I didn’t really have much of a problem as I was still able to urinate through my penis. I was shocked with his reaction to my problem.
Some doctors are just idiots. Mine was like this (I had a tight foreskin/frenulum - see my Circumcision Faq for more info on that).
>I could easily get an infection at any time if my problem is not fixed.
You could, but you could also not. If you can keep it clean then you really shouldn't have that big of a problem. In saying that though, if you can't access the area...
>After talking it over with my mother, she is willing to pay for me to get it done privately.
Private is the way to go. With the state of the NHS being what it is it would take forever.
>Before I go for this option I would very much like to get some useful advice on what I should do.
With all the hysterical anti-circ sites, it's very difficult to find objective advice online about circumcision. If you haven't done so already then I'd suggest you check out the site that hosts this forum for some good info.
>This describes my problem and it suggests that a partial circumcision is the correct diagnosis. Should I consult a doctor and go for surgery to get my problem fixed ?
That's up to you.
>Is a partial circumcision the best option (I don’t like the idea of a full circumcision) ?
If you decide that surgery is for you, then you should discuss the options with the consultant when you see him and see what is best for your resolving your condition.
>Please give me any useful advice, I will be so grateful for your help. Also I have read some peoples experiences with partial circumcisions and they all seemed pleased with their results.
>Thanks, Mark.I had a partial circ almost two years ago and I'm very happy with it. Prior to surgery and I had an unretractable foreskin too.
Hope this helps.
