foreskin retraction

You know that method mentioned several times on this site, when if you are uncut you can keep the foreskin retracted permanently by rolling the foreskin in on itself or by just pulling back the foreskin every time it tries to slip back over the glans. I can do this method and have managed to maintain it successfully for as long as a week, but the problem is that the part where the inner and outer foreskin meets, is creased up and gets moist, and after a few days it goes red, and the skin feels weak and painful. Is this an common problem? and is there a way to stop it from happening?
