Mama deciding

My son is 14 months old and is undergoing orchidopexy tomorrow (an
undescended testes). The urologist looked at his foreskin and said
it looked tighter than the susual. It is true that my son pees to
one side and we can't even open the skin the slightest bit. He wants
to perform curcumcision at the same time.

My husband is German and not circumcised. However, he also had a
tight foreskin growing up and recalls painful stretching done to him
by his pediatrician at the time. They dont do those things in
America. I am Jewish but not practicing.

After MUCH MUCH heart wrenching thinking about it, I have come up
with the following reasons for having the surgery done tomorrow:
1. I'm Jewish. So is my son.
2. I'm American. So Is my son.
3. I frankly like the circumcized penis more.
4.My whole family is not at all clean freaks, and we often sail for
long periods of time with little fresh water.
5.There are signs of phimosis, although that could go away.
6. My husband also had signs of phimosis
7. My uroligist is excellent and well respected.
8. He is undergoing anestesia anyhow.
9.I would worry for the next years whether or not my son has
phimosis, constantly probing and checking his penis, which I don't
want to do.
10. I don't like the idea of waiting and seeing what happens. I
realize that I therefore make a decision for my son. I am sorry for
that but have decided to feel OK with making that decision for him.
11. I already tried it the "natural" way; fate pushed this option in
my path and I am now going for it.
12. I researched the pros and cons VERY much, on internet with local
and international phone calls, discussions with my husband.
13. Dr. Lattimer is a very skilled doctor and will give a good
circumcision.
14. Grandma and Grandpa are coming tomorrow to support me.
15. I Love my son and only want what is best for him.

Any positive encouragement is welcome; all you circ-haters please
don't reply with negatives as I'm afraid I just couldn't take it
right now.
