As an answer to: Show on television written by Jim at 28 Jan 2003 05:46:09:
Real doctors know all about this - after all, it's how skin cancers and other undesirable things are removed from the skin - you pull the skin together with sutures and - lo and behold - the skin stretches to permit it to close.
Albeit, sometimes, the skin "wins", and the sutures pull through - then the skin has to slowly grow over to close the gap instead. (I have to mention this as I visited a lady today and looked at an "eye-shaped" but smooth pink blotch on her arm - and then of course I remembered!
)
But it's something surgeons do almost every day.
So you then have to ask - when a doctor says "No, it won't stretch" - what is he really saying?
