Thank you for that clarification. I think however, that 29/F was picking up on an impression that you had, and running with it, and similarly for Phillip.

And obviously you can't. I was arguing along the lines that you undoubtedly do have some (other) friends who have similar problems, but as long as those problems (behaviour) do not manifest in a way that hurts you, the friendship, though superficial, can be maintained.

I was also arguing that to some degree, albeit you will find this particularly arguable, he is less culpable for the fact that he has no insight - he cannot understand why his behaviour is wrong. It's a bit like the pet venomous snake - sort of!

Yes, I have seen it, and it is sad indeed. On the other hand, when read by an intelligent person, it is actually very supportive to our general cause.

That's kind of what I was arguing - there is sometimes, some paradoxical good, in apparent evil (interestingly, a recurrent theme within the Bible)! At least by faithfully quoting things, the sense of what they originally meant, speaks for itself. So perhaps, despite the intent (and ironically, he can't see that he is mocking not you and Jim, but himself), it's not as bad as you think.
