As an answer to: Being Circumcized written by Matthew at 07 Feb 2003 05:36:54:
>I am 15, and was left uncut as a baby, and was wondering if it would be possible if I have my dick circumcized, if it will look like the guys that were done as a baby?
>There dicks look as if they still have some of that pink skin (not sure what its called) for about an inch under the head, until where the dark line is.. Would it be possible for the doctor to leave an inch of that skin on my dick and cut more of the other skin off?Can I be blunt?
Then I'll ask first: why?On the other hand, Matt, here's the deal: You have a whole penis now, with not one centimeter or one inch of the inner foreskin you describe, but somewhat more. Also, you don't have a scar --- why do you want to get a scar anywhere on your body? You also have the tip of the foreskin, the ridged "frenar band", which has the biggest density of nerve endings in your whole penis. I can suggest you to touch it lightly with your index finger and memorise what it feels like.
Out of the blue comes another question to my mind: is there any problem you experience with the functionality of your penis?
Currently you have a continuous transition between the "pinkish" and the "brownish" colour of the skin. Since the looks seem to matter you a lot, I thought I should mention this.
Another question comes to my mind: You said you'd want it to look like the others'. Have you been bullied about your intact penis, perhaps?
You can't be sure what the doctor is going to do. Some will leave much or take much --- with or without intention, mind.
Also, as any operation, this can involve complications, such as severe bleeding, infections; you'll surely be unable to masturbate for a couple of weeks until it heals, it might be uncomfortable to urinate, etc. If the doctor takes too much (though I don't know for exact if you are actually looking for a tight circumcision with much inner foreskin left), you will most probably need artificial lubrication 1) for masturbation 2) for intercourse. It is something you don't have to worry about as an intact guy (well, unless you'll be someday attempting anal intercourse, which requires lube anyway).
I won't go into the thing about which kind is more prone to sexually transmitted diseases, and which isn't. I won't go into which feels better and which doesn't. The former is not an explored bit of medicine yet, therefore highly debateable, the latter is highly subjective and often contradictory. I'll leave it, thus.
I wouldn't suggest you to get cut at this age, but rather wait until you grow up. It is possibly a better idea to decide with a more informed and mature mind. If you decide immaturely, without weighing the consequences, there is a higher possibility to regret your decision later. As this is a (currently) irreversible process, I for one wouldn't like you to regret your choice. If you don't have it done now, you can always have it done later, there is nothing to regret about not having it done.
As a last point, what you have now is the normal penis, and not the opposite. In America (judging from the spelling rules you followed, you probably live there), it is common to have a circumcised penis, but all in all, it's not normal. Think about that Nature would have omitted that part if it hadn't been meant to be there.
