As an answer to: Re: Trying again for some advice written by Don at 09 Feb 2003 15:03:27:

Don...or is it Derek. I'm terribly sorry to hear of your troubles, particularly your wife's illness. I truly hope that events will turn out for the better for her.

As to your first post...on 1 February: After rereading it, I remembered being curious as to why anyone taking a even a cursory glance at this forum would post such questions...knowing that most of the 'regulars' here are opposed to circumcision. It did seem as though "Don" was gloating a bit, pleased to have been circumcised. Is it any wonder no one...not even AJ, responded?

When you posted again, above, it seemed almost, well, that it served you right. That may be tough to take, and terribly unfair, but let me explain why.

Had you come here long ago, when you first had symptoms of infection, or before, you could have been given advice which would have resulted in not only a solution to the problems of infection, but a remedy to your tight foreskin, too, without having to undergo the knife. To discover from someone else that you work in a hospital and in a Department of Urology leaves me almost aghast at not only your ignorance of the problems associated with the penis, but also of the several doctors who were treating you.

And it is a bit unfair of you to criticise people here over their reactions to your brief posts when you gave such limited information. A friend has informed me that you posted such a long message to PROCIRC that you had to apologize for its length.

What are Urologists taught, anyway? Certainly nothing concerning the anatomy, function and problems associated with an INTACT penis. Perhaps PROCIRC (and Circlist, too?) is the correct place for you. Should you ever discover the purpose of a foreskin, however, and wish to restore...keep those restoration links handy. Rood

>HI again
>OK I do appreciate the replies this time around - Ralesk - my original post was to this group - on 1st Feb 2003, under my name Don - I did use an alternate email addy that I have - spam reducing technique but still a valid email address.
>To answer yours and Rood's questions - the foreskin did not split totally just along a fracture line that had some much inflamed scar tissue on it that it wouldn't heal and couldn't be retracted at all by this stage to be cleaned. The problem set in at Xmas (with a vengence that is - obviously phimosis was present before that) and I was plannig to deal with it in a conservative fashion and make sure I was totally informed etc as I went along. But life intervened and as a family we got really bad news regarding my wife's health first week in the month - advanced Ca with secondaries and heading immediately to chemo etc - prognosis uncertain in the extreme. This was the week my foreskin chose to split internally the length of the scar tissue - basically from the glans tip to the glans end.. I rang a clinic here I had been to in the past and said.. :fix it: I had more on my mind than my foreskin to be honest.
>When complications set in - infection and allergic reactions - I did of course contact the surgeon but thought help and personal experience would be useful - hence my posting at the beginning of the month. I am not normally as short tempered as my second post would lead you to believe but this isn't me at my best.
>The FAQ recommended earlier (thanks AJ) led me to Procirc and I joined and posted to them . I am sure you are right it will work out - time will tell.
>anyway
>Thanks
