As an answer to: Doctors... written by AJ at 13 Feb 2003 11:25:56:

Who said anything about doctors being evil? Everyone else understood that seeing a doctor for something so minor and simple as what he is describing is just a big waste. First of all, it takes lots of time to see doctors. They don't always have hours which easily work into one's own daily routing. They cost money. If the money doesn't come out of one's own pocket, it has to come from somewhere else that ultimately cost the patient anyway, or it unfairly puts the burden upon others who have the good sense to be able to take care of minor things themselves. AJ, there is no such thing as a free lunch, so if you are of the belief that your socialistic medical system in England doesn't cost you anything, you'd better enroll in a basic economics course to get freshened up on how costs trickle down.

Last of all, if this young man were to visit the doctor, he would be given a prescription for the same substance that he can go into just about any pharmacy in the world and purchase OTC for much less, and without the wait for the pharmacist to fill it, and thus, again saving time and precious money.

Now, do you really think it would be necessary for someone to go to the doctor for the equivalent of a simple case of athletes foot?
