As an answer to: So I think I might have this problem.... written by Justin at 14 Feb 2003 11:36:24:

>I just found this web site. I am 20 years old and it has never even occured to me that the foreskin on my penis is suppose to move down over the head? Is that right?

Hi, Justin. Yes. It is supposed to retract.

>I think thats what it is saying. And mine has never even come close to that, I can just barely see the actual penis when I pull it back until it hurts, about a little bigger than a dime of actual penis exposed.
>So if this means I have this problem, what does that mean for me?

It means you'll continue with the problem until you get it resolved.

>I masturbate and do not have alot of sexual experience. I worry that my becoming use to masturbation with a foreskin and with it not moving at all may make it hard for me to become used to or acheive the same level of sexuality if it is at all altered.

You've gotten used to having an non-retracting foreskin and learned to appreciate what you have. As someone who has been where you are I can assure you that you are most likely missing out.

>Has anyone had the same problems?

Yes, I have. There's some information about my history with having a tight foreskin here.

>What are the options, I would really like to just leave it but do I actually have the problem?

The options are limted I'm afraid. There are a few surgical options (if you have'nt done so already checkout the site that hosts this forum for information on treatment and foreskin conditions, there is also the alternative of stretching the foreskin - which works for some and not for others.

>Has someone else had the same problems with masturbation and then having it changed? Can they still masturbate, is it not as enjoyable if they are circumsized?

The problem you have at the moment is the pain and the fact that you cannot access the head of the penis - where there's a whole bunch of pleasure zones. From my experience, for me, I find it better now.

>Is sex enjoyable without changing it, and then after changing it is it less enjoyable?

Again, from my experience, I'd say no. I had a partial circumcision 2 years ago (for a problem much like yours) and it often painful and unfulfilling and kind of felt like wearing a bunch of condoms due to lack of sensation caused by the non-retracting foreskin. Now though, I'm as happy as a clam.

>What happens if I do have this, and I decide to leave it?

Nothing. You just carry on as you are and with what you've got. You can either learn to live with it or do something about it. Whatever you decide to do I would strongly advise speaking to your doctor prior to taking on board any advice from internet arm chair doctors as some (see here) do not have the best of motivations in mind when discussing your problem and suggesting treatments.

All the best.
