Generally, this would be true, but in instances in which the yeast should be starved, the experts in the area of treating yeast believe that best results are achieved by eliminating as much carbohydrates as possible. Since it is a temporary measure taken just to control the yeast, it shouldn't be detrimental to health. I, personally used such measures a few years back when plagued with candida and found it wasn't at all unhealthful, but actually quite effective in eliminating the problem. While on the diet for 30 days, I found that digestion was much easier, and I had energy like I was a teen again. The only problem was constant hunger! I carried raw veggies to nibble on throughout the day. Actually some of them have a considerable amount of carbohydrates in them, but I was still able to get the problem solved.
