Written by John at 24 Feb 2003 05:06:34: My experience of a torn frenum
Hi. On three separate occasions I sustained a chemical burn to the top of my glans and the mouth of my foreskin, where they touched the porcelain of a lavatory bowl which had been sprayed with a product probably containing ammonia. As each successive burn healed, it caused the skin of the prepuce to become dry and contract about the shaft when erect. Often the aperture of the foreskin had the appearance of chapped lips, which would tear into lond red crevices when retraction was attempted. Micturition and washing felt like an act of castration; indeed, it virtually was for weeks at a time, since sex was impossible, and even masturbation could only be attempted after the application of creams. The cumulative effect of these injuries was effectively to shorten my frenum, and the area became incredibly painful and tender.
However, as the prepuce was repairing itself from a burn, my penis was permanently flooded with blood. As everywhere was very tender, everywhere was also prone to stimulation. It felt like a return to puberty, and I found myself masturbating three and four times a day. I can't believe I did it, because all that time the pain never stopped at all, but actually got worse; it's just that the accompanying orgasms were proportionately intensified.
The result was, of course, that my frenum (which I suppose I ought now to have been calling a frenulum) was initially a little nicked, like a length of rope starting to pop and crack under strain, and then it actually split. The pain was bad enough, but the idea of severing my frenum was one that had always made me a little wary of women with long fingernails. It didn't rip apart or spurt blood, it just stretched and tore gradually, leaving a wound no worse than the other slash-like marks up my foreskin.
It's now more or less healed into a little tender camel-hump of frenum between two permanent cuts like expansion-joints. I've since discovered I'm diabetic, and until my blood-sugar comes fully under control it will continue to irritate the affected area with its presence in urine. I have to keep the prepuce either moist or moisturised, for which Neutrogena Norwegian Formula has proved efficacious. (This isn't a product placement, BTW!) The area sloughs off skin in great thumb-rolls at an alarming rate. Another curious effect is that I don't seem to produce smegma any more. Also, I used to get a lot of sebacious activity no matter how often I showered: now, I smell like a fresh seabreeze. Oh well....
Funny thing, I never had frenulum or foreskin problems before this, but my father, brother and nephew (my brother's son) have all been circumcised. I should clarify, I'm from Britain, where circumcision has never been very widespread except among Jews and in cases of phimosis, etc.Is my experience unusual? Have similar accidents occurred to others?
