Apparently you reminded Rood of someone who actually injured or "broke" his penis. That is most unlikely as a result of simple masturbation by hand, but one should be very careful about practices such as sticking it in holes or gaps in fixed or otherwise large objects. The classical injury is having intercourse standing with the girl riding with her feet off the floor, and losing the hold.
You may certainly by excess masturbation, cause abrasions to the skin, small tears and/ or oedema as you have described here, and abrasions and tears may become infected - in which case you would need to see a doctor. I suspect however, you just tried this out "to see what you could do", have now found your answer and won't try it again!
