>James, we've covered this point time and again. Using your suggestion that we stretch (as opposed to grow) then we would all be walking stretch marks and have some funky translucent skin. When we gain weight our skin grows with us and then over time reverts back to its prior state when weight is lost.

We GROW through the stretching (tension)
Stretch marks come from HARD stretching (lo and behold, significally weight-gained people do have stretch marks, even I had some on my upper thigh and butt only from simple weight gains and I'm 75 Kilos only.)
Ever seen people who lost 100 pounds of weight?
Some revertion does exist and will happen, but by far not all "extra" will go away. This is why "stretching" of the foreskin is needed to be done to a bigger extent than what is needed, to allow it to fall back somewhat, as it shall. But ONLY somewhat. Not totally.
Do you expect someone quite lacking of the need to grow, say, a 50yr old person, who gains like a 80 pounds of weight, to burst? He wouldn't grow that amount of skin EVER over his belly unless inner tension of the fat tissue didn't stimulate the skin above to do so.
