I don't feel like commenting to the other parts. It IS valid to ask another doctor, however the default treatment in most of the western world being making a girl out of an X, I have doubts at actually finding anyone that actually knows something about intersex. I have a feeling that in general, the most know the intersexed themselves --- though not in a medically precise way. I don't think there are more than a handful people on Earth who have researched in this at all, in a medical meaning.
