As an answer to: My experience of a torn frenum written by John at 24 Feb 2003 05:06:34:
Hi. I posted back on 24th February 2003,saying:-
"On three separate occasions I sustained a chemical burn to the top of my glans and the mouth of my foreskin, where they touched the porcelain of a lavatory bowl which had been sprayed with a product probably containing ammonia. As each successive burn healed, it caused the skin of the prepuce to become dry and contract about the shaft when erect. Often the aperture of the foreskin had the appearance of chapped lips, which would tear into lond [sic] red crevices when retraction was attempted. [...] The cumulative effect of these injuries was effectively to shorten my frenum, and the area became incredibly painful and tender..."
Sorry, I lost the URL for the site and only just made it back on to read the replies. Thankyou for your answers, anecdotes and suggestions. My diabetes is now under control (four Metformin a day). The next things for me to tackle are diet and exercise. There are no excuses for junk food and obesity any more: my aliment is my ailment, and I will have to deal with it. Either that or buy a guide dog.
The urinary sugar content is no longer a problem. The concomitant irritation under my prepuce is negligible. There is slight discomfort upon retraction if the foreskin mouth has become dry: evaporation of surface moisture is the main cause, either as a result of sexual stimulation, prolonged masturbation, or having omitted to apply the usual moisturising cream. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula has been a Godsend: I imagined my penis would become an ossified stump of boiled leather; it has recovered its ease of erectile function and engorgement. The frenulum, which had split in two places, has accustomed itself to its current state: the middle section between the two splits, which represents the limit of inward contraction of the former frenum, has lost all its tender sensation, and now simply protrudes a little to the left of the vertical median line like a skin tag; the entire frenum, which formerly had the striated appearance of thread or string, is now vertically fluted.
The sloughing off of rolls of skin, which some suggested might be a fungal infection, I believe to be simply due to flaking, oil-less skin. Were it fungal, the yeast might be expected to react with preputial sebum and produce an unpleasant odour. It does not. These appears to be some return of smegma production, though this is limited. Funny how attached you get to smelling like a rutting Australopithecus when you can't: instead, I smell like a girl after the bath, even if I haven't showered all day. Testosterone levels as healthy as ever.
JohnP.S., I suppose I should be using the usual British diphthongised orthography "fraenum"; but, in all ignorance, I began using the americanism "frenum", and thought it better to be consisitent with my other post, even if not entirely correct. -- J
