I'm figuring you are in the UK like myself because you spell "Mum" correctly and not the US way. This being the case you should be able to make an appointment and go by yourself, but if you need to get time off school and stuff, your Mum would need to know. I know it's embarrassing (I was in a very similar position at your age), but it's better to have support than to go through the worry alone.

Being scared is normal and so is the embarrassment. However, if you do decide to speak to your Mum about it, the embarrassment will be over with as soon as you tell her. Believe me, she will want to know and help support you.
