As an answer to: Holy Cow written by chImp at 15 Apr 2003 23:36:47:
It was a time when few, if anyone, knew the slightest thing about the intact penis: its anatomy, purpose or function. Though the medical profession provided me with no information at all with which to make an educated decision, their slapdash approach to penile 'problems' does not absolve my complicity in the matter: my shame-based ignorance and naivete had everything to do with my circumcision. Knowing this, there is nothing that you or anyone else can do or say that might excoriate me any more than I have accomplished all on my own. I, and others, too, come here and reveal the painful truth about ourselves precisely so that young men like you can be encouraged to seek better solutions. Without our being here to illustrate the point, you, and others, might be encouraged by equally ignorant doctors, and by those few misguided men who have either eroticized genital mutilation, or who sing its praises, to follow in our footsteps. So your "Holy Cow" has only brought a smile of pleasure and satisfaction to my face. When we learn from one another's mistakes (though a few refuse to acknowledge them), we prevent their being repeated.
Aren't you pleased that the internet has provided a forum which allows men to explore the experiences, the missteps, and the successes of others, before they, too, act in haste and on faulty and insufficient information? In that respect these forum are better than University libraries. Here, the books come to you, almost 'live'. Just don't knock them down, like a bull in a china shop. They are there for you to 'read'.
>This is almost ridiculous (actually, FAR from 'almost'). First you cut the skin away, then you stretch it. What's next - cutting it again and restoring it AGAIN ?!!!
>>The story has been repeated here and elsewhere in excruciating detail, but suffice it to say that I was circumcised on bad advice, but have since largely restored by the use of numerous "devices", most of which work very well, thank you.
