In my own opinion I think that circumcision can prove to be a great benefit to some, but also a loss to some too. I do understand the need for foreskin restoration/preservation in the context of phimosis but I believe that the only reason for this is because of sexual pleasure or "intactness".
I do feel my circumcision (last month) was a good choice for myself as it relieved me a lot of pain in terms of intercourse, retraction and infection. Personally, I don't care about the lack of sensitivity or sexual pleasure cos I believe, that at the end of the day, it's more down to psychology. I don't believe that "necessary" adult circumcision is mutilation either, as there is reason and consent for it to be performed (i don't have a stance on routine infant circ btw).
I don't have any regrets now about my circ and I don't think I ever will. YES, I did try to prevent having to be circumcised (stretching, betamethasone 0.05%, etc.), and YES, I did have apprehensions about it (lack of appetite, the shits, to much caffeine, etc.), but now it done it has sorted out a great deal for me. Just because this is the case for me it doesn't have to be for everyone who has phimosis, balanitis etc.
Circumcision is ONLY the right choice if only the individual believes so, rather than having someone else's formulated opinion. Advice can be a different matter, totally unrelated to opinion and I think that is what this forum's beginning to lack.
Thanks.
