>>HOWEVER, most of us agree (even you, AJ) that stretching solves the problem of phimosis for least SOME people.
>For some people, yes.
>>So, quite clearly, choosing stretching as a means to cure a tight foreskin problem is certainly one of the alternatives.
>It is an option, yes.
>>HOW COME didn't my GP ever mension this possibility to me? How come none of YOUR three GPs mensioned it to you, AJ?
>Quite simply my regular GP was a buffoon. When I first visited at 15 I didn't know any better to get a second opinon - plus it was just too embarrassing. When I went back at 24 or 25, while his response was much of the same I sought out a second opinion. I didn't mention to him about the stretching exersizes I had been doing for several months and he didn't mention any. I don't think he was much interested either way. When I saw the specialist I had a thorough discussion with him about all the alternatives and what, if anything, I could reasonably expect to achieve, and felt, given the lack of any progress with stretching, that the surgical intervention would be the best option.
>>Both of us found about this thing on the Internet, the same Internet that you advice people to give a significantly lower operator precedense than the advice of a GP. It seems clear to me that SOMEBODY isn't doing their job right. Any thoughts on all this?
>You are totally right, Chimp. In my case my GP was competley unprofessional in his dismissal of the condition and lack of suggestions for treatment. He wasn't doing his job properly. However, I would rather chance to pay a visit to a doctor and if neccessary get a second opinion, then take on board the advice given to me by unobjective people proclaiming to know better or that refuse to say anything about their history and experience with similar conditions (like Jim and PaulB).
>I feel it is the right thing to do when I suggest to people to consult their doctor first. I also feel it is the right thing to do by suggesting to kids that they speak to their parents too. Unlike certain people here who try and take the parents out of the decision making progress.
>Ivan, Ralesk, and pretty much all the anti-circ people of this forum say "AJ parrots" about seeing a doctor. I do. So what? Everyone here "parrots" their views and what they think is the right thing to do. However, when I go to sleep at night I have no trouble with the idea that I have advised people to speak to their doctor and kids to speak to their parents about the problems, as opposed to listen to Jim and co.
>Hope that helps.

Did your doctor tell you about his phimosis and that is why you trusted him? Who is the buffoon?
