As an answer to: To PaulB written by chImp at 01 May 2003 17:24:45:

I'm sure Paul B. will have a more eloquent reply, but may I postulate...

...that it seems an absolute no brainer to realize that these conclusions are a bunch of utter rubbish. Consider the reasoning from all the angles:

1. If the man saying he's just as sensitive was circ'd at birth, how in the name of reason would he know the difference? He's never known anything except having his knob uncovered.

2. If it's a man circ'd later in life, for what ever reason, unless he's a circ fetishist and has been wearing his knob uncovered for years, the recently circ'd individual will have to admit that having a bare knob took a bit of getting used to. Later on, you may get a comment from the bloke that says "...and I'm 52 now and the knob is still the most sensitive part of my penis." Well no shit, unless he's gone cold dead numb! However the falicy is in his own admission, that after he got used to having his knob bare, the sensitivity was the same. Bloody hell, he's just desicrbed a change.

Now if you say that Will is just anti-circumcision and he's been out on the pitch too long, so be it. But my fault, and other's who write here, is the same as all medical learning, and this is the maintenance of the normal, healthy body as it is created, intervening only in the direst of circumstances as a last resort. EVERY mammal in creation has a foreskin and to be pro-circ of humans says first and foremost that you're smarter than creation and can build an improved model... and if you think only man needs this improvement, then you have a fetish.

I always liked the quote from the Gospel of Thomas (Nag Hamadi Library texts):

53. His disciples said to him, "Is circumcision useful or not?"

He [Jesus] said to them, "If it were useful, their father would produce children already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become profitable in every respect."
