Has anyone ever heard of a circumcision in which all of the foreskin is excised plus nearly an inch of shaft skin and in which the skin between the scar and the sulcus is scar tissue? I hadn't realized that scar tissue would "grow" that distance.
A fellow in the UK contacted me today about restoration. When I commended him for having a circ scar an inch below his sulcus...which I assumed meant he had retained that much original foreskin, he said, "No, I think all the tissue beween the sulcus and scar is scar tissue. I saw a plastic surgeon specializing in 'nobs'. He told me that skin migrates from the sulcus toward the shaft skin and vice-versa, joining together like any wound that has had a chunk of skin taken of (sic). [It] leaves behind somewhat insensitive thinner/thicker skin depending on the sight (sic). Migrating skin [is]
the normal healing of a wound."The poor guy was circumcised two weeks after birth on the recommendation of the attending physician...really a youthful novice ignorant of the normal penile anatomy of newborn babies. His mother was told that her child would find it difficult if not impossible to urinate. That her child had no difficulty urinating during the first two weeks of life had no effect on their decision. He has suffered ever since, though he never fails to impress that fact on the attending doctor, who still practices in his area. If only it were possible to convice oneself, like the deluded bunch at PROCIRC, that circumcision is wonderful. It might make dealing with reality less painful.
