The most important principle of a circumcision, is that the scar will contract during healing, so the foreskin (remnant) - that is, the scar line must be kept back behind the glans until healing is complete.

Usually with a "tight" circumcision, there is insufficient skin to permit the foreskin to re-form anyway, but if the circumcision is deliberately made loose (the term "partial" is meaningless, and I'm not sure whether "minimal" is any better), then this may have to be achieved by taping - pulling the foreskin back and taping it to the base skin of the penile shaft.

Naturally, erections (at night) will be uncomfortable, but it is necessary that they force the scar line to expand to the necessary extent while it heals, and when the foreskin is permitted to re-form, it should be regularly stretched by sexual activity as well as retraction to pee (which will be necessary to the extent that the "looser" foreskin will not form a proper "jet" for urine, and will simply cause spray).

It goes without saying that a competent doctor will explain this requirement at the time, so if this has not occurred, what does that say?
