Speculation? Your attempt to refute my colclusion rests on the supposition that most non-regulars to this site rely on the Recent Messages rather than looking over, say the first page, or at least the first screen, of entries before deciding whether to post their concerns. Since the threads present a string of comments and responses, and indeed this is one of the features that makes this site so much easier to follow than so many other sites which post only sequentially, this is very doubtful. I know that my habit is to click on the items in blue (i.e. that I have not yet read), and only to check the Recent Messages listing to see if I have missed anything new lower down the page. If you are going to claim that someone is going to make a point of bypassing the branching thread layout of the main page in favor of the less coherent Recent Messages page, I think you are going to need to at least give a reason browsers would do such a thing. For too long, you have been slinging poop - like your namesake - around the site and now you want to pretend that no one notices.
