There's recently been a study that suggested stretching is much more effective with steroid cream. When stretching does work (it works for some, but not all), it is reported by some that the foreskin has reverted to it's original state a short time after.

I had a partial circumcision for a similar problem. It's very different from a dorsal slit, but you might find my Circumcision FAQ helpful.

Just tell her. It's difficult and embarrassing, but if you love each other, it'll be okay (man, I'm so not cynical.) Also, if you get the problem resolved some time in the future, it'll be a non-issue.

All the best.

p.s - Please forgive my anti-circ stalker who is impersonating me in some posts. He doesn't mean to be a troll, he's just a little twisted.
