Satan knows that Chimp is not the one chickening out from public discussions. In fact, He is the one that tends to start the most interesting of them :-)

The evolution theory provides a logical and easily comprehensible model on how random factors can make very primitive organisms to evolve into more complex ones. I compare the 4 laws of evolution to Newton's 3 physic laws, which describe with great accuracy the very most of physical motions that humans encounter. True, Newton's laws were insufficient to explain some weird phenomens coming out of thought experients, and Einstein had to improve them. However, those improvements are quite minor: the use of the Relativity Theory in school textbooks is generally required only when an object has a speed that exceeds 1/10 of the speed of light. Basically, you can send people to the Moon without even caring about Einstein, because Newton's laws cover most of the cases and provide a way to figure out "what happens next?".

I give you another example that I remember: before Johannes Kepler found his 3 laws of Planetary Motion, people didn't understand that the planet's orbits around the sun were, in fact, ellipses and not circles. Prior to Kepler scientists COULD, in fact, calculate planet's motions around the sun by using formulas containing some 60 different cofactors. According to them, the planets orbited the sun in circles, but made some 60 additional circular movements.

Kepler's formula was infinitely more easy to use and understand, so scientists switched to his formula instead.

Here's something funny: The Christian Church didn't approve much of this and Kepler's predecessor, Kopernikus, who also came to similar conclusion, had to write in the beginning of his book "Look you guys...I'm not saying that I'm right, but my ways of doing things makes the calculations easier".

While you digest all this, I must go to bed now, it's 06:39 here. I'll write much, much more tomorrow. I just want to get reassured that I'm not saying something against the wind and the person I address this to knows where I'm headed.

>Hi Chimp, I've hestiated to remark about your slams against Jim because I don't wish to start a holy war here, but you are getting ridiculous with your allegations.
>Although you think you are clever in thinking that you are descended from Apes, you are the one without any evidence to back up your claim. In hanging onto such a preposterous notion that humans have evolved, you are ignoring the increasing number of scientists worldwide who have abandoned those thoughts in favor of creationism.
>Since you believe that you are correct, why not try proving your theory? I already know that you can't, so I'm quite comfortable in putting forth that challenge.
