As an answer to: Pen caps written by Paul B. at 26 Jun 2003 21:46:45:

>The concept of the pen cap is pretty straightforward. If you "funnel" the foreskin as in the picture that Ralesk posted, you simply feed the cap into the "funnel", "pointy" end first.
>If you need just a touch of lubricant on the tip so it doesn't irritate the glans, that is OK (but the particular advantage of the cap is that the tip is not sharp in any way, and is in fact very well polished, so it's most unlikely to irritate), but as you would then want to put some ("MicroporeŽ" or similar "surgical") tape over it if you want to hold it there, you have to be very careful about using too much lubricant.
>So the "open" end of the cap, the part that actually connects with the pen, ends up facing outward, and you need the tape because it is automatically trying to "pop out" due to the tapered shape. It might be possible to fit it the other way round if the "open" end is not too rough on the glans and you can manipulate it in, in which case it would be self-retaining. This is why Jim and others have suggested a plastic moulding compound to make a similar shaped piece which would be perhaps shorter, and entirely smooth (somewhat concave) on the "large" end.
Thanks for trying to help me understand this. The trouble is I still don't.
Are we talking pen-caps as in biros here? Do you use two - one either side
of the glans? How far down do you stick it (them?) Are you saying you stick
the pen-cap in tapered-nose in first? I've never been good with people describing mechanical assemblies.
