Martin, here is a link to a site that has some objective information about the condition and its treatment.

I would be wary of anyone on these type of message boards that either proclaims or has their minions proclaim on their behalf that they are a "real" doctor. Indeed, it has been said that his (PaulB's) profession and qualifications (if any) range from a medical junior, a factory worker, a junior nurse, chemist, to a postman - among other things. I'd strongly advise that you keep in touch and talk to your real-life doctor about this problem and not armchair doctors you find here.
