foreskin gets trapped behind head, painful

(note: im 17). Until this year I've had no problems with my foreskin. Before April or so I had never retracted my foreskin very much, especially not behind the head - it was always quite tight, and hurt to take it back. Around April I attempted to have sex, and the foreskin was pulled all the way back behind the head, causing a lot of pain. Unfortuantly I was drunk at the time so I'm not totally sure what happened really, but I woke up the next day with the foreskin still pulled back, so I put it back into place. I thought the best solution was to try and get used to it being that far back, so I tried to move it back a few times a day, gradually increasing how far I pulled it back.

Unfortuantly, a while later I began to have problems. I'd get an erection and the foreskin would go all the way back, but sort of fold into itself meaning it'd get stuck, and wouldn't come back up unless I really worked hard to get it back with my fingers. It may have shown signs of swelling too, I can't remember. This was about a month and a half ago. Now, the foreskin moves all the way back still, and sort of gets stuck behind the head, leaving the head exposed which can cause discomfort. It's very annoying, and I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem, and knows of a solution. I'm really hoping circumcision isn't my only option, so any advice is appreciated.
