As an answer to: Re: painful glans written by Silveralex at 16 Jul 2003 12:35:04:

>As for the pain, direct contact isn't painfull its only if there's friction/movement such even lightly running my finger over the head! Have found that rubbing E45 into it helps in that its not painfull to rub but even my g/f goes down on me if her tongue slips under the foreskin and makes a rubbing contact with the head ouch time!

Many of those who post here are against any exposure of the glans by either surgical means or even by wearing the foreskin skinned back. Before the high US circ rates men born 1900 through 1930 were estimated to be wearing it bare- retracted in perhaps 30%. The increase in circing and the usual MD's admonition to return skin over the glans to prevent paraphimosis reduced the extent of the practice. And it does not work for everyone. As far as the paraphimosis threat one should be aware of the possibility, but you are far better to work your way out of that possibility by wearing it bare more of the time. Also creates less problem in an assisted care situation should someone not return the foreskin forward after catherization!

However, if you were to increase the amount of time the glans is exposed to air you will end up with better functionality- less pain- more ability to do what the glans was supposed to be able to do: Penetrate!

There are men not circed that do wear the foreskin retracted. Some Asians have such short foreskins that it is almost natural for exposure to occur with puberty and could be consider part of natural process of becoming an adult. Some have used wrapping with string, taping, or placement of "O rings" on the skin placed behind the glans or just the repetetive replacing the skin behind the glans as soon as possible if it rolls forward to train th skin.

I know there will be many statements about "not wanting to lose any sensitivity-
I can assure you the sensuous sensitivity will remain even beyond age 77 but
the nuisance, pain sensitivity will moderate.

At any rate you could keep the knife away and have nothing to lose as you can always revert to covering the glans if you don't like the more useable, easier to clean, sexy looking bare glans.

>>OK, SilverAlex: Hurrah for you and your success at retraction.
>>You say that you still have residual tightness. Try some of the exercises illustrated in the messages below, and you'll find complete success in no time.
>>As for a glans which is extremely painful to the touch...making sex "impossible", what kind of sex have you been attempting? What kind of "touch"? The penis and it's glans are designed to enter an extremely moist vagina, ideally with the glans covered until the moment of entry. Anything short of that may well be painful until gradual use over time accustoms the glans to a more "crude" touch. Circumcised men gradually lose almost all of their sensitivity, for instance, due to constant exposure and touch with a variety of surfaces and substances.
>>So tell us more, specifically about the kind of touch you have been attempting.
>>Rood

>>>Ok, here goes!
>>>First problem, I had phomisis till a couple of year ago when a doctor gave me some steriod cream and the problem was largely got rid of apart from some risidual tightness. Hoorah.
>>>Second problem, The glans on my penis are extremely painfull to the touch and can only be pleasantly stimulated through the foreskin. this of course makes sex impossible. I've been trying to rub in E45 cream to slowly desensitise the head but after a year or two although there is an improvement, sex is still a no no.
>>>Has anyone else had this and managed to desensitise the head enough for sex to complete the task?
